Golf swing mechanics

I started playing golf seriously at the age of 16 and like so many golfers I was mad keen to improve. Within two years I was playing to low single figures and I read every book and article I could lay my hands on, as well as having lessons with various pros. But my game did not improve and despite hitting about half a million practice balls, my handicap actually went up! Like so many I was totally confused by the immense amount of conflicting information, and instead of understanding, learning and practising the correct golf swing, I was simply ingraining my mistakes.

If only I had known then what I know now, I could have hit 10% of those practice balls and still improved, and I'm sure many of you will recognise that feeling. It has taken me many years of studying literally thousands of golfers, from novices to tour players, to realise that there is in fact only one correct golf swing, which I believe everyone can understand and learn.

So let me help you avoid making the same mistakes that I did. After all, as Ben Hogan said "All that is required to play good golf is to execute properly a relatively small number of true fundamental movements". In other words, the closer you get to the correct golf swing, the better you play.

The Correct Golf Swing consists of

Pre-Swing Fundamentals

The correct set-up is the vital framework for the correct golf swing and allows you to hit the ball consistently to your full potential. The set-up includes posture, balance, setting the triangle, the grip and alignment.

Swing Fundamentals

There are three fundamental components, two energy-producing movements

And the

The Swing Build Programme

Provides an understanding of the correct golf swing and simple exercises with which train the core fundamentals. The principals of the correct golf swing also apply to the short game.

The Half Swing Exercise

This is the best all round exercise for developing the correct golf swing. It trains the hands to deliver more energy into the club head as speed and at the same time it helps to eliminate the destructive use of the arms and shoulders as a power source – the dreaded ‘heave'.

The Full Swing Exercise

This exercise blends together the component parts of the swing into the one classic golf swing movement. This exercise is fundamental to good technique and once mastered is guaranteed to improve your game.

Whatever your playing standard - from a high handicapper to scratch, do you really want another year's frustration with your golf? Now is the time to learn that there is a much simpler answer to hitting the ball long and straight - consistently.
